MLD Obtains Analytical Cannabis License from Health Canada
MLD is excited to announce that it has officially received its Analytical Cannabis License from Health Canada. MLD has extensive analytical method development and validation expertise and will now be able to legally receive and analyze cannabis samples from licensed producers and processors for analytes such as THC and CBD species, terpenes, aflotoxins, and more. MLD’s lab, located at Innovation Place in Saskatoon, is nearing completion of Good Laboratory Practise (GLP) accreditation, an exceptionally high laboratory quality standard.
Dr. Shawn Ritchie, CEO & Chief Scientific Officer, says, “Cannabis testing options in the local community are limited. Given MLD’s analytical strengths, along with our move to GLP accreditation and quality practices, it made sense to begin building out cannabis testing services. We are looking forward to working with local and regional producers and processors to offer exceptional service, value, and turnaround time. Being a small and flexible team gives us the agility to meet stringent deadlines and communicate directly with our clients.”
MLD is currently completing validation on potency, which will include analysis of by HPLC-UV, and is working on pesticides, terpenes, aflatoxins, and residual solvents. Producers intersted in immediate research and development testing (non-release testing) of potency can contact 306-244-8233. Further information regarding services will be posted to the website as they become available.
